Pay Per Click (PPC)

Definition: "A system where an advertiser pays an agreed amount for each click someone makes on a link leading to their web site". This is also sometimes known as Cost per click (CPC).

Pay per click can play an important part in a traffic generation strategy for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs). In particular it can be very cost effective for local marketing, i.e. where the target audience is within a specific geographical area.

It also has the great benefit of being immediate, and controllable. This control makes it ideal for seasonal marketing as well.

The success of a pay per click campaign is dependent on a number of factors:

  • Keyword analysis - to find relevant terms
  • Creating effective adverts
  • Creating effective headlines
  • Managing the budget
  • Analysing the results

Corelli provides a managed service for pay per click campaigns. If you would like to discuss this for your needs, please give us a call on or contact us via our online enquiry form.

Link Popularity

Definition: "A raw count of how "popular" a page is based on the number of backlinks it has. It does not factor in link context or link quality, which are also important elements in how search engines make use of links to impact rankings"

Inbound links are considered by the search engines as a vote for your site. Currently, this is one of the most important aspects of traffic generation. However, how these links are obtained is also an important factor, and the quality of the link, and the site from which it comes, can make a big difference.
